UNDP, Western Union initiative channels remittances for MDGs

The UNDP and the Western Union Foundation are launching an initiative to help Filipino and Moroccan migrants living and working abroad to contribute to sustainable local development in their home countries, part of a grant to assist the UN in advancing the Millennium Development Goals.

DILG to bring potable water to 36 municipalities

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) hopes to bring potable water to poor communities in 36 municipalities in the country. Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno said that the program, which is under the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) Achievement Fund, aims to provide safe and potable drinking water to residents of remote barangays, particularly, the poor communities.
