MDG-F releases "United" anthem for the world's 7 billion people

The MDG Achievement Fund and UNFPA today released an anthem for the planet entitled "United". Performed by more than 50 musicians from 13 countries, "United" celebrates the diversity and unity of the world’s people, who will reach 7 billion on October 31st.

"Some say our planet is too crowded. I say we are seven billion strong," said United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. “In our increasingly interconnected world, we all have something to give and something to gain by working together. Let us unite, seven billion strong, in the name of the global common good.”

"United" is the result of a partnership between the MDG-Fund, UNFPA and Playing For Change, and is part of 7 Billion Actions, a global campaign to build awareness around the opportunities and challenges of a world of seven billion people.

The MDG-Fund is working in 50 countries to fight poverty, protect the environment and improve living standards for the world’s most disadvantaged citizens. In supporting the 7 Billion Actions campaign, the MDG-F calls on all people to commit to making the world a better place.
