Support for the fight against anemia in vulnerable groups in CubaWith the objective of decreasing the anemia prevalence in young children and pregnant women, this programme will support increased production, access to and use of foodstuffs rich in micronutrients, mainly iron. Cuba’s food and nutritional surveillance systems will be enhanced. Geographic focus will be the most vulnerable municipalities of the five eastern provinces and Pinar del Río.
Support for new decentralization initiatives and production stimulation in CubaIn support of Cuba’s new initiatives aimed at decentralization and stimulating national production, this programme aims to incorporate the private sector within municipal priorities as a catalyst for local development by: 1) increasing and diversifying private sector production, 2) strengthening the technical services and management capabilities of municipal government necessary to promote public-private cooperation and 3) improving the local population’s access to goods and services.
