Our Joint Programmes
Establishing effective and democratic water and sanitation (W&S) management in Mexico to support the achievement of the MDGsThe basic intention of the programme is to improve the integrated management of water in peri-urban and rural areas to help achieve the MDGs with regard to water and sanitation (W&S), and combating poverty from the standpoint of environmental sustainability and gender equality. This will contribute to achieving MDGs 1, 3 and 7 by diminishing inequalities in accessing an essential resource that is crucial for the health and capabilities of the poor and women.
Conflict prevention, development of agreements and peace building for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Chiapas StateDisplaced persons in Chiapas are the forgotten victims of the conflict between Zapatism and the Mexican State. The aim of the programme is to strengthen capacities for reducing conflict and tension in Chiapas, by implementing the Special Rapporteur’s recommendations and thus benefiting 24 communities with internally displaced persons.
