"Seeds" to empower women in Bolivia

The MDG-F is helping to tackle extreme poverty in Bolivia by providing microcredit loans and work opportunities for rural indigenous women.

Our Joint Programmes

Building the local response capacity for the inter-sectoral implementation of the PMD-C

Chronic malnutrition affects four out of 10 Bolivian children in the most food insecure municipalities. A child is 2.5 times more likely to suffer from malnutrition in a rural area than in an urban context The Bolivian government has begun to implement the Zero Malnutrition Multi-sectoral Programme (PMD-C).

Productive patrimonial assets building and citizenship programme for women in extreme poverty in Bolivia

The pilot programme focuses on indigenous peasant women living in extreme poverty, helping them to build and consolidate productive patrimonial assets and full citizenship. The programme has two pillars. The first one is a non reimbursable direct monetary transfers’ component that provides seed capital, start up grants, joint venture and risk capital.

Integrated Prevention and Constructive Transformation of Social Conflicts

The Programme aims to foster a process to achieve the integrated prevention and constructive transformation of social conflicts within the framework of a peacebuilding process, by changing the values and behaviours of people in different social strata, as well as in the structures of the State and civil society. The Integration of indigenous Andean producers into new national and international value chains

Poor producers in Bolivia generate 83% of all employment, but only 25% of GDP. This popular economy includes some successful experiences in the areas of fair trade, organic farming and related practices. These experiences can be replicated through collaboration between private and public actors in order to promote technological innovation, add value and support social and gender inclusion and wider market access.
